The Only Hotel Inside Everglades National Park

The Flamingo Lodge, Marina & Outpost Resort sits in an area once populated by plume hunters, renegades, fishermen and farmers.

Located 38 miles southwest of the main park entrance, Flamingo Lodge the lodge has 103 comfortable, air-conditioned rooms and 24 cottages with kitchen facilities.

Be aware that it is about 40 minutes from the Anhinga Trail at Royal Palm, one of the most dependable wildlife viewing areas. It's closer and easier to stay in Florida City if you intend to make that your main focus.

The lodge also conducts its own special swamp tromp tours in winter months, the only time the mosquiteos are bearable

Since the Flamingo Lodge caters mostly to fishermen year-round, the motel-style property is rustic and basic, nothing fancy, but far better than sleeping in a tent. This place was a perfect oasis after my week-long canoe trip on the Wilderness Waterway. If you prefer a tent, there's a campground just a short drive away.
