Ding Darling Days

10th Annual “Ding ” Darling Days on Sanibel Island
are scheduled for Oct. 9 through 15. . The festival celebrates National Wildlife Refuge Week, the 60th anniversary of J. N. “ Ding ” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, and the birthday of the refuge' s namesake, father of the Duck Stamp program. Birding tours, a kids fishing day, live animal shows, photo workshops, island eco-tours, the 2004 Duck Stamp Artist presentation, and book signings and talks by major wildlife authors highlight the week' s activities. The final day, Oct. 15, will offer free Butterfly House tours, family activities, naturalist-narrated tram rides, environmental exhibits and food. For more information visit www.dingdarlingdays.com .
