Ding Darling Days Several resorts and hotels
in the Sanibel Island area have special packages for the 16th Annual
Ding Darling
Days eco-festival Oct. 9 - 15, 2005, at J.N. " Ding " Darling National
Wildlife Refuge (NWR) and other island venues. The week-long celebration coincides
with National Wildlife Refuge Week and includes a Kids
Fishing Day, live animal presentations, a nature photo contest and workshops,
island eco-tours, and book signings and talks by major wildlife authorities. All packages are available during that week (unless otherwise noted) and subject to availability.
West Wind Inn Gulf Front Resort , the closest resort to the refuge, has a rate of $125 per night. It includes two tickets to Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum, which presents a special " Ding " Days program on Oct. 10. Minimum stay is two nights. Ask for Tropical Island Get Away package.
